The Inspector-General of Police, IGP, Tunji Disu, has approved a major reshuffle of senior officers of the Nigeria Police Force, ordering the immediate redeployment of nine Assistant Inspectors-General of Police, AIGs, to strategic commands and formations across the country.
The directive was conveyed through a police wireless signal issued by the Force Secretariat, Abuja, on Monday, July 27, 2026 obtained by SaharaReporters.
The signal, titled “Posting Senior Officers” and marked “Most Immediate,” was addressed to all major police departments, zonal commands, state commands, specialised formations and training institutions across the country for immediate implementation.
According to the police wireless message, referenced TH.5361/FS/FHQ/ABJ/SUB. X Posting Senior Officers, the Inspector-General ordered the posting of the affected AIGs as follows: AIG Polycarp Emeka Nwonyi has been posted to Zone 9 Command, Umuahia.
AIG Obono Nnaghe Itam has been redeployed as Commandant, Police Staff College, Jos.
*AIG BASSEY SAMUEL EWA has been posted to Zone 15 Command, Maiduguri.*
AIG Osagie John Agans-Irabor has been redeployed to Zone 3 Command, Yola.
AIG Monday Agbonika has been posted to Zone 5 Command, Benin.
AIG Daniel Edobor Iyamah has been appointed IG, Department of Operations (DOPS), Force Headquarters, Abuja.
AIG Isah Danladi Nda has been posted to the FCID Annex, Kaduna.
AIG Akaniyene Ifebem Ezima has been redeployed to the Nigeria Police Force National Cybercrime Centre (NPF-NCCC), Abuja.
AIG Bello Rashid Afegbua has been posted to Zone 6 Command, Calabar.
AIG Betty Enekpen Otimenyin has been appointed AIG, Zone 8 Command, Lokoja.
The Force Headquarters directed all relevant departments responsible for computer records, establishment and personnel documentation to update official records in line with the new postings.
The wireless signal, dispatched from the Nigeria Police Force Secretariat, Abuja, was circulated to the Force Criminal Investigation Department (FCID), Department of Finance and Administration, Department of Operations, Department of Information and Communication Technology, all 17 zonal commands, commissioners of police in the 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory, specialised tactical units, police colleges, training institutions and other police formations nationwide.
It was copied to the Inspector-General’s Secretariat for information.
