A businessman and president of the Takete Ide Progressive Union, TIPU, Prince Richard Dare Fiki, has added his voice to those felicitating with Prof. Joash Amupitan on his appointment as Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
Fiki, a builder, described the appointment as putting a square peg in a square hole, expressing confidence that the new appointee has all that is needed to excel in his new role.
He said Amupitan has distinguished himself as a scholar with a strong passion for the growth of our political jurisprudence and democracy over the years. He thanked President Tinubu for finding him out for the national assignment.
“We commend the president for his love for the country and determination to reform the electoral process. We are pleased that he has found an Okun person worthy of this great assignment. This is the first time a talent from the northcentral will assume the office, which affirms the president’s well-known reputation for inclusivity.
“There can hardly be a better choice for the improvement of the integrity of our electoral system. We believe that the new helmsman will go about his duty with the fearlessness, fairness, and truthfulness for which Okun people are well known.
“May he not deviate from this. I pray that God grants him the wisdom and everything needed to succeed on the job, and that posterity will remain kind to him even outside office.
“Congratulations to all lovers of democracy.”
