The victorious Nigeria D’Tigress are billed to arrive in Abuja today, Monday by 12 noon aboard, a presidential chartered flight with the prestigious African trophy they won on Sunday night in Abidjan for the fifth-straight time.
The team, officials, and a presidential team will depart Abidjan by 10 am aboard two chartered flights. There is a presidential delegation that landed in Abidjan on Sunday before the epic battle against Mali.
They are expected to arrive at the Nnamdi Azikwe International Airport, Abuja by 12 noon (Nigeria is one hour ahead of Cote d’Ivoire).
On Sunday, President Bola Tinubu announced that he had sent a team to the Ivorian capital to morally support the team.
The statement reads, “I have dispatched a Presidential Delegation to Abidjan to stand with our superlative D’Tigress as they pursue a fifth consecutive AfroBasket title for Nigeria.
“Led by the Chairman of the National Sports Commission, Shehu Dikko, this team of senior government officials represents the full weight of our national pride, belief, and support.
“Our girls have shown character, discipline, and the Nigerian spirit in every game. As they prepare for the final in two hours, we stand behind them – not just as fans, but as a grateful nation inspired by their excellence.”
Tinubu is expected to announce the presidential gift for the seven times African champions.
