National Honours: ODA Congratulates Olorunyomi, Dare, others

The Okun Development Association (ODA) has rejoiced with Dapo Olorunyomi, publisher of Premium Times, and Prof. Olatunji Dare, a renowned journalist and academic, along with other distinguished Okun sons and daughters who have been conferred with prestigious National awards by President Ahmed Bola Tinubu, Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces.

The apex sociocultural group of the Yoruba speaking people of Kogi State made this known in a statement by its National Publicity Secretary, Dayo Thomas. The statement reads in part:

“Dapo Olorunyomi’s dedication to investigative journalism has earned him notable awards, including the International Editor of the Year Award by World Press Review and the CPJ International Press Freedom Awards. As the Publisher and Editor-in-Chief of Premium Times, he has promoted social justice and investigative reporting through the Wole Soyinka Centre for Investigative Journalism (WSCIJ). His recent conferment with the national honour of Officer of the Order of the Niger (OON) is a testament to his significant contributions to the nation.

“Prof. Olatunji Dare, who has been conferred with the prestigious National Honour of Commander of the Order of the Niger (CON), is celebrated for his significant contributions to public discourse in Nigeria and beyond. His commitment to journalistic integrity and ethics has inspired countless young journalists, shaping the future of the profession. As a seasoned journalist and academic, he has demonstrated unwavering dedication to mentoring and teaching.

“The ODA expressed pride in seeing Okun sons and daughters excel and make meaningful impacts that have earned national recognition. By celebrating the achievements of our compatriots, ODA aims to foster and encourage a culture of excellence in Okun people worldwide. This achievement is expected to inspire the younger generation to strive for greatness and contribute positively to the country and Okun land

“The ODA believes that recognizing and honouring outstanding individuals will inspire others to pursue greatness and make meaningful contributions to our community. We aim to foster a culture of excellence and encourage others to follow in their footsteps.”
