Money laundering: Court grants Malami, wife, son bail

The Federal High Court in Abuja has granted bail to Abubakar Malami, the former Attorney General of the Federation and former Minister of Justice, his wife Asabe Bashir and his son Abdulaziz Malami.

Justice Emeka Nwite granted each of them bail, at a sum of N500 million, in an N8.7 billion money laundering case linked to the trio on Wednesday.

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) had detained Malami for 31 days at the Kuje Correctional Centre alongside his wife and son, who spent 16 days, before the court granted them bail.

Malami is standing trial on 16 counts of charges linked to money laundering of a total sum of N8.7 billion.
