Kogi: Bandits attack Kabba-Bunu again

Less than a week after gunmen abducted several worshippers from a church in Aiyetoro Kiri, Kabba-Bunu Local Government Area, LGA, Kogi State, they have launched fresh attacks in other parts of the council area.

The hoodlums were said to have invaded Ihale and Olle, both in Bunu axis killing and abducting a yet to be ascertained number of persons. The coordinated attacks happened this Friday, 19 December.

The first attack happened in the morning in Ihale, resulting in the abduction of many persons. Later in the evening, the terrorists attacked Olle, where sources said more people were also abducted.
It was gathered that both communities resisted the terrorists leading to the loss of some lives.

The Chairman of the LGA, Barrister Zacheus Dare, sympathised with victims of both attacks and vowed to tackle the menace of banditry head-on.

He expressed grief over the loss of innocent lives, especially the courageous security operatives who died in the cause of the gruesome attack, and commiserated with the Olle community, the Omonayi and other families of the victims in the affected communities.

He assured that the local government, in collaboration with relevant security agencies, has intensified coordinated efforts aimed at securing the safe and unconditional release of all abducted victims.

Meanwhile, the Obaro of Kabba and Chairman of Kabba-Bunu Traditional Council, His Royal Majesty. Oba Solomon Owoniyi has issued an advisory 1 the leadership of the Christian Association of Nigeria, CAN, said the directive was given to forestall attacks on churches.
