A woman identified as Aisha Abubakar has been arrested by Nigerian security forces for allegedly transporting ammunition to terrorist groups in Katsina State.
It was gathered that Abubakar was arrested during a routine stop-and-search operation designed to combat the increasing insurgent activities in the region.
During the operation, security personnel discovered ammunition concealed in the suspect’s luggage.
A security analyst and counter-insurgency expert, Zagazola Makama, reported on Monday, 24 June, 2024 that the authorities uncovered the ammunition during the search.
According to Makama, the suspect initially denied any involvement. However, under interrogation, she confessed to transporting the ammunition to terrorist groups.
“During the course of interrogation, the suspect confessed that she was heading to Yan Tumaki in Dan Musa LGA in Katsina State.
“The incident highlights the ongoing efforts to combat terrorism and the importance of vigilance in preventing the proliferation of illegal weapons,” Makama said.
