A branch of a commercial bank in Abaji area of Abuja has been robbed by about 15 gunmen suspected to be bandits. after they launched an attack on the Divisional Police headquarters in the area.
Three persons made up of a police officer, and two gunmen were allegedly killed in the process. The attack occurred at about 5;00 PM. on Thursday.
The Federal Capital Territory, FCT Police Public Relations Officer, SP Josephine Adeh, confirmed the incident on Friday. She explained that operatives of the command, in a combined effort with the military, engaged the armed men in a gun duel, leading to the casualties.
Explaining further, the PPRO confirmed that three suspects, including a reported leader of the criminal gang identified simply as Usman, were apprehended by the security agents.
Meanwhile, angry mobs in the area were reported to have set the body of one of the deceased suspects ablaze
