Forum hails Ododo for approving Minimum Wage

The Kogi State Forum of Political Office Holders (2012-2016) has commended Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo for approving a new minimum wage of ₦72,500 for the state’s civil servants.

In a statement signed and released to journalists in Lokoja on Monday by Austin Tantoluwa, the forum praised the governor’s decision to immediately implement the wage increase, describing it as a landmark achievement that demonstrates the administration’s commitment to workers’ welfare.

“Since assuming office, Governor Ododo has consistently introduced people-oriented policies that have resonated positively with Kogites,” the statement noted. The forum expressed satisfaction with the governor’s pro-worker stance and its positive impact on the workforce.

The forum’s statement also indicated strong support for the governor’s initiatives, expressing confidence in his leadership and commitment to the welfare of Kogi State people. The body also said the approval marks a significant milestone in the state’s civil service reform agenda and reinforces the administration’s dedication to improving the living standards of its workforce.

The new approval for implementation includes a 12-month suspension of all taxation elements attached to the minimum wage adjustment, further enhancing the take-home pay of civil servants in the state. The new minimum wage is to take effect immediately as the implementation of the consequential adjustments are ratified.
