Five residents of Magongo community in Ogori/Magongo Local Government Area of Kogi State who were abducted on Monday around 8 p.m. have regained freedom after five days in captivity.
National President of the Magongo Development Association (MDA), Prince Jordan Akpata, confirmed the development on Friday evening, stating that the victims were freed at about 5 p.m. and have since reunited with their families.
Prince Akpata said that detailed information on the circumstances surrounding their rescue would be made available later.
He extended heartfelt appreciation to security agencies and community members whose efforts contributed to securing the victims’ freedom.
The abductees were seized a few kilometres from Magongo while returning from Jos, Plateau State, after attending a wedding ceremony.
