The Standup for Women Society, SWS, has felicitated with all Nigerians for witnessing over two decades of uninterrupted democratic system of government in the country.
The International President, Barr. Deborah Ijadele-Adetona in a press statement made available by the association’s National Public Relations Officer, Lib. Billie Nwogu commended Nigerians for their resilience and determination to see the country succeed against all odds.
Ijadele-Adetona used the occasion to celebrate President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for his selfless services to the nation. She called on the president to further improve on his effort to make life better for the common man who has lost hope in Nigeria due to the present economic hardship.
She commended President Tinubu’s renewed hope support programs (palliative, grants, and loans), which she said have gone a long way to reduce the suffering the people and SME owners go through.
Ijadele-Adetona further advocated for the appointment of more women into key positions to fulfil the 35% standard set by the Beijing Conference.
“As the nation marks Democracy Day, Nigeria, and our nation will continue to grow in peace, unity, and prosperity.
Today and always, we celebrate our democracy and the freedom it represents. God will continue to guide our leaders right. Congratulations.” She said.
The women advocate suggests that to make the lives of the masses better, the federal and state governments should take price commodity control policy beyond forcing the cost of goods and services to reduce. She says the government should open up special commodity markets where the government will stock and sell all foodstuffs and other items at a cheaper rate.
She concluded by urging all leaders across the various political parties to join the president to build a wealthy and healthy nation where peace and unity will continue to reign.
