Kogi State Polytechnic, Lokoja has matriculated 4,591 students for the 2025/26 academic session, with a strong warning against any form of examination malpractice, cultism and other social vices that could mar their academic pursuit.
The Rector of the Polytechnic, Professor Salisu Ogbo Usman in his speech during the 33rd matriculation ceremony held simultaneously at its main campus in Lokoja and satelite campus, Itapke on Thursday, declared that any student found wanton would be shown the way out.
“We shall continue to uphold discipline, transparency, and zero tolerance for all forms of social vices. On the other hand, we will not relent in promoting peaceful coexistence, responsible leadership, and mutual respect. Our emphasis on security, moral discipline, and academic integrity is non-negotiable and central to our institutional philosophy. ”
He admonished the new students to resist the temptation of fallen victims of violence and embrace the spirit of hard work and dedication to their studies as well as character moulding that would add value to self development, Polytechnic community and the society in general.
According to the Rector “It will pay the students in million folds if they take to the path of positive attitude that would earn them greatness and honor in their future endeavors.
He disclosed that a total of 4,591 students were admitted into seven Schools and fifty-seven academic programmes of the Polytechnic noting that of this number, 2,460 students are to undergo National Diploma (ND1) Programmes while 2,131 students were admitted to run Higher National Diploma (HND1) Programmes.
The Rector congratulated the new students and assured them of providing a student-centred learning environment, supported by improved infrastructure, modern laboratories, ICT-driven examination systems, a functional library, secure hostels and robust entrepreneurial training facilities.
He commended Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo, Visitor to the Polytechnic, for not only ensuring excellent working environment for staff and students but also providing the basic infrastructure and security required for teaching and learning to thrive.
