The Chairman of Kabba-Bunu Local Government Area, Zacheus Dare, has confirmed a security breach by unknown gunmen in its Bunu axis. It was gathered that an attempt by gunmen to kidnap people, including students in the area this Wednesday morning, was successfully resisted.
Chief Press Secretary to the Chairman, Omofa John, who made the confirmation in a statement clarrified, however, that two persons were killed in the attack. The statement reads in part.
“Though, there are casualties – one Hunter and one Hausa as a result of the stray bullets.
‘That as we speak, the Joint Task Force had intensified operations with the aim to restore confidence in the area.
“However, the government warned the members of the public and members of the social media to stop sending unverified news to the social media. Hence, they will be made to face the full wrath of the law.
“That the joint teams of security tactical units and local vigilantes were currently combing the surrounding bushes.
“That a thorough operation is ongoing, and normalcy has been restored to the axis. The situation is under strict monitoring.”
