KGSG Dumps TCC For Students’ Registration Policy

The Kogi State government has rescinded its decision of requesting for the Tax Clearance Certificate, TCC, of a parent before a student can be registered in tertiary institutions owned by the state. This follows the widespread public condemnation that attended the policy.

Chairman of the Kogi State Internal Revenue Service, KGSIRS, Sule Saliu Enehe announced the cancellation of the policy in Lokoja on Wednesday. He said Governor Usman Ododo gave the directive yesterday in response to public outcry on the issue.

The chairman said that although school authorities should no longer use the TCC as a yardstick to register students in schools, he called on taxable adults to ensure they pay their tax as and when due.
