The Court of Appeal sitting in Abuja, on Thursday, October 10, 2024, affirmed the judgement of the Federal High Court which set aside the N800 billion budget passed by five members of the Rivers State House of Assembly.
The lawmakers led by the Edison Ehie-led group are loyalists of Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara.
The Appeal Court dismissed the appeal filed by Fubara for lacking merit.
The court declared that the governor withdrew his counter-affidavit at the lower court in the matter and, as such, can not commence an appeal in a matter he didn’t challenge at the trial stage.
