November 2nd has been confirmed as the date for the 2024 Takete Ide Day, TID festival and N100 million fund raise with a commitment that it will be a grand celebration of culture and guided “throwback to the days of our fathers.”
President of the apex sociocultural platform of the community, the Takete Ide Progressives Union, TIPU, Prince Richard Dare Fiki, who made this known in a chat, said the festival will be preceded by a summit.
He added that the recent security breach in which three hunters were injured while frustrating gunmen invasion of the ancient habitation calls for deep reflection by everybody and described the wounded hunters as heroes.
Chairman of the TID ’24 Planning Committee and Kogi State Commissioner for Information and Communication, Kingsley Fanwo said all hands are on deck for the celebration and thanked indigenes who are contributing towards its success.
Kogi State Governor, Alhaji Usman Ododo is expected to lead other members of his cabinet to the ceremony, while the famous industrialist, Alhaji Fahad Mangal of Mangal Cement Plc and Mrs Hellen Omoniwa, a technocrat are to serve as Chairman and Chairperson respectively.
Other dignitaries on the roll call are national and state assembly members, local government functionaries, captains of commerce, and traditional leaders. The Olude of Takete Ide, Oba Philip Ebilakun, is the Royal Father of the Day.
Activities lined up for the day include the Agbagba Ide procession, banquet, cultural parade, are iya’o, historical narration, recreation/ games, singing, dancing, and prayers. Fanwo said it will be a record-setting festival from which others can borrow.
