Nearly a week after his Supreme Court victory, Kogi State Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo on Wednesday made a triumphant return to the state with a charge to the citizens to join hands, with him, irrespective of political leanings, in order to move the state to a higher evel of economic and infrastructural development.
Ododo, who gave the charge at a reception, noted that Kogi State is blessed with enormous mineral deposits that could only be harnessed if the people are united and support the current administration.
“I am calling on everyone
to join us to develop Kogi State. The State is the only state we can authoritatively claim to be our state. The State is blessed with enormous mineral resources. I am calling on all and sundry to come home and support my administration to serve the state better.
“As a political party, APC has the philosophy of development, and as such, my doors are wide open for advice. I need your cooperation and support so that together we can take the state to the promised land where the state will be a centre of attraction to other states in the country.”
The governor appealed to Nigerians to support President Ahmed Bola Tinubu to enable him achieve his laudable programmes for the nation, aasuring that the President has put measures in place to ensure the country’s economy is revived to end hardship.
While appreciating the immediate past governor of the state, Alhaji Yahaya Bello for laying a foundation for his lieutenants to serve the people better, Ododo stated that he was not trained to be making noise, but to always feel the impulse of the people and attend to their needs..
Earlier, the APC Chairman Kogi State chapter Abdullahi Bello, appealed to the governor to be magnanimous in his victory at the Supreme Court by allowing some members who left the party to return having explained what led to their decamping from the party prior to the governorship.
The governor was received by a tumultuous crowd in Kotonkarffe who accompanied him in a long convoy through Jamata Bridge down to Lokoja, the state capital.
