Kogi to hold local government election on 19 October

The kogi state independent electoral commission KOSIEC has announced that it will conduct election for local government chairmen and councillors accros the 21 local government areas of the state on Saturday, 19 October.

The state chairman of the commission Alhjai Maman NDA -Eri disclosed this to journalists on Tuesday during the stakeholders meeting held at the Riverton Hotel in Lokoja, the state capital

The chairman said the election timetable starts on Tuesday (today) with the stakeholders’ meeting and notice of election guidelines and timetable.

He announced that sales and collection of election forms by SIEC commenced on 5-23 August by political parties and warned that there would be no room to extend the date.

He added that all collected forms must be filled and submitted by 26 August 2024  and advised all political parties to abide by the rules and regulations.

He allayed the fears of all political parties he added that the council election in 2024 would be fair, credible, and transparent through all the processes.

He called for the cooperation of all stakeholders and political parties.
