1,863 students graduate from FUL in 2024

A total 1,863 students of the Federal University, Lokoja, Kogi State, out of which Forty one bagged first class, are to be conferred with the degree of the institution in its 8th convocation ceremony, on Saturday 26 October. The week-long event started on Monday, 21, and will end on Sunday, 27 October.

The Vice-Chancellor of the University, Prof. Olayemi Akinwumi disclosed this on Monday in Lokoja during a pre-convocation press briefing of the institution held at its Felele campus.

Giving a breakdown of the performance of the students, Prof Olayemi disclosed that 461 undergraduate students bagged the second class upper while 974 others graduated in the second class lower division, 384 with third class and 3 graduating with a pass.

”This is a significant moment not just for the university but for the graduates and their families, as It marks the culmination of years of hard work, dedication, and perseverance.

”We are also proud to announce that, as part of this year’s ceremony, Honorary Degrees will be conferred on eminent personalities who have contributed immensely to the development of the university and the nation at large.

”I wish to take this opportunity to congratulate our students. Their achievements are a source of immense pride for all of us at the university. As they prepare to embark on the next phase of their journey, we encourage them to carry with them the values they have learned here at FUL—respect, integrity, innovation, dedication and diligence,” he added.

Akinwumi also gave a load down of recent achievements of the institution in its pursuit of research, academic excellence, and corporate social responsibility. These include new academic programs, accreditation success, establishment of FUL zoo and conservatory, inaugural lectures, public lectures, and infrastructure development. He said the university has an endowment fund, appealing for support from corporate ordmganizations and political leaders.
